Male’ city mayor Dr. Mohammed Muizz has tweeted requesting to make electricity and water bills feasible for the residents in Male’ area. He tagged the tweet with the relating companies, STELCO and MWSC as well.
The request is due to the worsening situation of covid-19 pandemic in the country which is directly affecting peoples income badly. Currently a curfew from 4pm to 4am is set in Male’ area as the spread of covid-19 has dramatically increased. In the past 24 hours, there were 1603 positive cases reported and currently there are more than 21000 people under treatment.
Last year, when the spread of c0vid-19 began in the country, the government gave a deduction in both electricity and water bills as well.
