A Volleyball competition named as “MERANA” is going to start in Ha. Alif Ihavandhoo. It is arranged by Ihavandhoo fisherman’s companionship, IMAGU, a non governmental organization working to develop the island and the betterment of the people.
The purpose of arranging the competition is to train youths and develop talented, volleyball players in the island. The competition is to start on July 1st and only island residents can take part in. There will be separate competition for males and females as well.
The champion team will receive 7000 MVR as the prize while the runner-up team will receive 3000MVR. Media Coordinator of IMAGU has said, that there will be more programs coming up through out the year to celebrate the anniversary of the NGO.
IMAGU is one of the most active NGO found in Northern area. They have being arranging several workshops, coaching camps and many other competitions in the island. A sports academy is also organized by the IMAGU to train football players and the purpose of all these activities are to build and develop a better future in the island.
