“My Bank” does not need a profit of 350 million rufiyaa: MP Yasir

MP Yasir Abdul Latheef has strongly criticized Bank of Maldives (BML) saying that, it does not need a profit as huge amount as 350million rufiyaa.

He said that tweeting to the news under headline “In the first quarter of the year BML has a profit of 350million rufiyaa” He mentioned in his tweet that “My Bank” does not need a profit of 350 million rufiyaa.

Rather, it need to provide already suffering citizens loans with much lower interest rates.

On first of this month, BML has said after deduction for taxes, the profit is 357 million rufiyaa. And it is a 23% increment compared to the year, 2020.

Covid-19 Pandemic has affected bank’s businesses, but the profit is due to the improvement in the corrective measures taken, says the bank.

Moreover BML says that the reservoir and the liquidity of the bank is maintained as of the law
