Construction work of the water and sewerage system in H Dh. Kumundhoo has been initiated by Maldives Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC).

The project was inaugurated by the Managing Director of MWSC, Hassan Shah and Member of Parliament for Makunudhoo Constituency, Mohamed Raaee and the Island Council’s President, Ameen Mohamed in a special ceremony held to commemorate the event.

According to MWSC, work is underway to transport the necessary equipment for the project, and to start work on the installation of pipes for the water system, and also the construction work of a building to house the water plant.

The project includes a 14-kilometer-long water system, construction of a building to house the RO facility, 3 water tanks and the installation of two RO plants for the water system. Furthermore, for the sewerage system, the project includes the installation of a 10-kilometer-long sewerage network, 2.4-kilometer pumping line, five pumping stations and a sea outflow.

The project was contracted to MWSC, to be completed in 22 months, and is estimated to cost MVR 102.17 million.
