The Island Council of H Dh. Kumundhoo has released a Long Term Development Roadmap for the island.
The roadmap was released in a special ceremony held this Tuesday in the island. Mr Saeed Ahmed, a civil servant with a long tenure in the government was the Guest of Honor.
In the ceremony, the work done by the island’s council since 2011 was put under the spotlight. Projects such as the development and maintenance of a football stadium, a futsal stadium, volley stadium, netball playing area was highlighted. Moreover, facilities for the island’s fisherment, the development of children’s park, and a barbecue area, was noted as well.
Speaking at the ceremony, the President of the island Council Ameen Mohamed noted that there would be no development without a concrete plan. He further stated that the togetherness and collaboration of the island’s population would play a critical role in the development of the island.
The roadman contains plans to further strengthen the economy of the island, such as developing the guest house industry, the building of a shopping mall, a focus on farming, medical tourism, and the lease of land to operate cafes and restaurants. Furthermore it contains plans for the efforts to protect the island from environmental disasters and prosper the island.

A new slogan “Nala Fehi Kumundhoo”, and a new logo and for the island was also introduced in the ceremony.
