Within 11 days after signing to develop a tourist hotel in Kela, the survey of the hotel has begun.
Fedo investment won the bid for building and developing the hotel. The agreement was signed between the Ministry of Tourism and Fedo Investment on 16th March 2021.
To do the survey required to develop the hotel, the survey team went to kela yesterday. 2 directors of Fedo Investment, as well as kela institution member Ibrahim Shareef, also visited with the survey team.
This hotel consists of 100 beds. The hotel has to be developed and inaugurated within 2 and a half years duration.
Hence 844,414 square feet of land from the thundi area including the sea area required for tourism has been provided to develop the hotel.
To expand tourism in Kela 14 lands have been announced for bid. Hence to develop guest houses 5000 square feet 12 lands, tourist hotel development 10000 square feet 2 lands has been announced. Appeals for these lands will be open until the 30th of this month.
Kela is a naturally rich and beautiful island that is only 10 miles far from Hanimaadhoo international airport and has 213 hectares on the island. Currently, there are 5 guest houses on the islands. Kela received the “leading beach House” award at the 2017 Maldives travel awards guest house addition.
