Contracts for water supply and sewerage projects in 34 islands, including 6 in the north, have been signed.
The agreements for the construction of water supply and sewerage systems in 34 islands including 6 islands of the north were approved today. The 6 islands of the north in which the project will be held include; HA. Kelaa, HA.Baarah, HDH.Vaikaradho, SH.Funadhoo, SH.Lhaimagu and N.Manadhoo.
These projects are funded under the $800 million Credit Line Agreement signed between the Export-Import Bank of India, and the Government of Maldives in March 2019, for funding development plans in the Maldives.
The function was escorted by Minister of Finance Ibrahim Ameer, Minister of National Panning Housing and Infrastructure Mr. Mohamed Aslam, Secretary Multilateral Dr. Hala Hameed, Deputy High Commissioner of India to the Maldives Rohit Rathish, and other leaders from the Government, and the High Commission of India in Male’.
Addressing at the event, Secretary, Multilateral Dr. Hala Hameed highlighted the recognition of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s dedication to providing a path to safe water and proper cleanliness in all populated islands of the Maldives and that the signing of the agreement would highly advance the quality of lives of Maldivians within the country.
Secretary, expressed further appreciation to the Government and people of India for their effort and devotion in providing for the socio-economic development of the Maldives.
