HA. Maarandhoo’s council initiated a cleaning project of their waste disposal area.
The second waste disposal area is to be cleaned to be today and the island’s waste area is to be also cleaned by the people of the island as well.
Maarandhoo council’s president Mr. Ahmed Hassan stated to “Thiladhun” that due to the outbreak of COVID-19, the waste disposal area were cleaned by the council members for the past 6 months. But he also stated that the islanders who use the waste area do also come and clean the place often.
“Today the waste disposal area cleaning is started again. The work has been always done with the help of all the people of the island. Normally, on every 2 months, we do clean the place.”
He also appreciated the help they always receive from the islanders. Specially he mentioned the women of the island who puts an immense effort to keep the place clean.
Recently, a team of WAMCO visited the island and took information from the council as well. The council is hoping to see a day where the waste to be managed much better than now.
