Male’ Water & Sewerage Company (MWSC) has started a project to implement a sewage system in Kinolhas and Goidhoo.
Therefore, in Kinolhas, the project was started by a ceremony held on the island by the Managing Director of MWSC, Hassan Shah and Inguraidhoo constituency’s member Hassan Ahmed. In Goidhoo, a similar ceremony was held and was started by the company’s chairman Ahmed Mausoom and Managing Director Hassan Shah.
MWSC has also stated that the product and machinery that are needed for the project has already been sent to the site now. Moreover, drainage and pipe burying has already been kick started and the water that plant that will also be installed has already been under work with 52% completion.
Under this project, Kinolhas will witness a network which will be 11.8 km long and an RO (Reverse Osmosis) facility will also be implement with a RO plant installed. In order to preserve water, two water plants which will hold 200 tonnes will also be installed on the island.
At Goidhoo, the same level of work progress has also been attained with the burying of the pipes along with the water plant installation. Moreover, Goidhoo would witness a network which will be 15.9 km long. The island will also be installed with a RO plant and 300 tonnes preservation of water tanks as well.
The two islands will also get the benefit of getting water meters on the households and water will be connected to the islands easily. The whole network of the pipelines and water connection will also be installed by MWSC.
Planning ministry has given the project to be done and finished by MWSC and it is estimated that the project will cost 46 million ruffiyya. The project is to be finished within 22 months.
