Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has announced progress made on harbor construction projects of two islands in Maldives.

MTCC stated that 35 percent of the HA Ihavandhoo harbor development project has been completed, while 38 percent of the N. Miladhoo harbor project has also been completed.

In HA Ihavandhoo, MTCC said that new basin dredging works for the project is currently underway, with 59 percent completion.

The project encompassed of the deepening of 21,295 cubic meters, construction of 284 meters outer reef layer, 178 meters revetment wall, 95 meters inward reef layers, 4,582 meters pavement, and the installment of guiding lights to the reef as well. The work has been assigned to MTCC by the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure with a budget of MVR 48.5 million.

According to MTCC in N. Miladhoo, 82 percent of new basin dredging works has been completed. The project encompassed of the deepening of 37,222 cubic meters, construction of 248 meters outer reef layers, 137 meters revetment wall, 286 meters inward reef layers, 4,582 meters pavement, and the installment of guiding lights to the reef.  The project in Miladhoo is worth MVR 42.18 million and was commenced on September 25, 2019.

MTCC is currently the leading company engaged in government construction projects. MTCC has successfully completed a variety of land and marine infrastructure construction projects in the Maldives, including port construction, sewerage and road development, runway and airport construction projects, etc.
