Maldives State Shipping (MSS) has stated that the cargo ferry that is supposed to be docking at Kulhudhufushi this time would ideally bring 700 tonnes of goods.
After the current government who has started a direct link between the northern atolls and India’s Cochin, the two countries has started to benefit accordingly. Upon starting the link on September 26th, the ferry has carried 500 tonnes of goods even on the first time.
MV. MCP Linz bringing 700 tonnes were also highlighted by the Managing Director of State Trading Organization (STO) Mr. Hussain Amru. He also said that the amount of goods that are being brought are also increasing time to time.
In order to start the national shipping line, MSS is also a subsidiary company of STO.
The ferry system that has been established between the Maldives and India is to enhance the friendship between the two, as well as to create chances from the north to build and profit from its businesses. The ferry is also to be docked at Male’ as well.
The ferry is able to carry 380 containers of 20 feet by 8 feet. The ferry is also able to carry 3000 tonnes of bulk cargo as well.
