Bank of Maldives (BML)’s Sh. Funadoo branch has given out gloves to the island’s Ungaa Jamiyya as charity.
The gloves that are being given as charity are to use on “Cleaning Saturdays” by the Ungaa group which is held on every week.
The charity of gloves were given to the group in a small ceremony held in the BML branch along with the steering committee of the group.
After asking a question by “Thiladhun” the first elected president of the group has said that the charity by BML has given them a boost of motivation to carry out this work each week.
Upon taking the responsibility of keeping the island safe along with the environment surrounding them, Ungaa Committee has made every Saturday as a day to clean the island.
The group has so far conducted this cleaning event on 10 saturdays previously. The group has stated that they have lost one saturday so far due to an event that was held on the island as well.
The group has also started to recycle the waste with collaboration, Parley Maldives. They have been cleaning area by area on the island so far.
