Waste Management Cooperation’s(WAMCO) household waste collection times are to be changed, according to Male’ city council and WAMCO.
After a press conference held yesterday by City Council’s Mayor Shifa Mohamed and the MD of WAMCO Adam Mohamed, they have officially stated that they have changed the official hours of waste collection to night time.
MD of WAMCO Mr Adam Mohamed stated that, the aim is to show a very clean Male’ when people head out for morning prayers. He said that the aim is to take all the waste by the morning and to even finish sweeping the roads as well.
Since the timings of schools will also contradict with the current timings of WAMCO’s working hours, they have mentioned that this would produce a very hectic environment with the traffic on the roads of Male’. Therefore, they have implemented the new timings from 11th January 2021.
The official timings of WAMCO’s lorries to start work would be at 0000 hrs. Therefore, the timings of to keep the waste outside the houses for collection would start at 2200 hrs to 0000 hrs.
It is also worthy note that the timing changes would only include the Male’ area. And also, WAMCO has stated that still their workers would not enter any house hold due to HPA regulations and also, the waste should be kept outside the household as well.
WAMCO’ has also asked the customers to carefully pack the waste even though the government has lifted some of the lockdown rules.
