Un authorized trees/ palm trees cutting has led the N. Manadhoo council to pay a fine of 20,000/- (Twenty Thousand Ruffiyya).

After finding the council guilty, Environment Protection Agency (EPA) has issued a fine over the council.

A notice that was issued by EPA has stated that the council has been fined with an amount of 20,000/-. And the date at which the council was fined was dated as 06/12/2020 (Today). And the EPA has also asked the council to pay back the amount within 1 months time as well.

Moreover, the notice also stated that from the area where the council has given the new houses to the settlers of the island, the trees and palm trees and the area has been cut un lawfully and without an authorization.

The council was fined in accordance with the Maldives environment protection law number 4/93.
