A sports club registered in Ha. Ihavandhoo namely Club Polester has started the preparations to start a football tournament between the islands of Ha and HDh atoll.
“Ihavan Cup Football Tournament 2020” will be held between the youth of Ha. Ihavandhoo, Ha and Hdh government offices, Ha and Hdh NGOS, all the companies present in both the atolls, and all the resorts present in both the atolls.
They also stated that any of the government and NGOs present in Ihavandhoo are not to be participated in the tournament as well.
The tournament is ideally to be started on the 20th December 2020 on the turf of Huravee Football stadium in Ihavandhoo. The club has also stated that the last day to submit the forms for the competition is 16th December 2020. The entry fee of the competition is 2000/- per team as well. The club has stated that the forms are available for download from their office and Facebook page as well. They have also uploaded the rules and regulations of the tournament as well.
The club stated that the main reason why the tournament is held is to increase the friendship between the government and NGOs of the both atolls and to make the faces of familiar within the atolls.
This is by far the biggest tournament held by a private company and the biggest prize money offered as well. For the champion team of the tournament, a grand prize of 50,000 will be given. The runner-up receives a prize of 25,000.
