Complains arises due to the long delay in opening Vashafaru Guest Houses

Complains are arising due to the long delay and hold off from the government in opening the guest houses in Ha. Vashafaru by the owners of the guest houses in the island.

Upon giving some information to “Thiladhun”, 4 of the guest houses owners has shared their concerns and complains.

After re-opening the borders of the Maldives, Vashafaru guest houses owners has asked for the permission from the council and the government from as early as August 15th. They have even verbally communicated with the islands council on the 6th of September as well. But they have stated that, still they are not given the permission to re-open the guest houses.

The letter which was sent to the council that was signed by the 4 guest houses present in the island as well. In this letter, they have stated to work hand in hand with the council as well and they will be cooperative to open the guest houses as well.

They have also shared a copy with “Thiladhun” and it is clearly written that the guest houses owners would work in their maximum to bring a solution.

The council replied to them stating that the council will bring a solution to the owners, but the owners have complained that till date, still they are not given any sort of permission to re-open the guest houses.

One of the owners have also shared their story and he has mentioned that the guest house owners were even talking to the health sector of the island after the green flag from the council. They even got ready for the inspection as well according to the owner.

In a nut shell, the owners complains lies with the cooperative level communications between the council and the ministry. The owners are also assuring that they are ready to be cooperative with both the council and ministry as well.

The government of Maldives closed all the local guest houses on March 17th and re-opened its borders on the 15th of August giving permission to a handful of guest houses. They have also stated that the ministry and the government will give to as many guest houses as possible the permission to open the guest houses depending on the level of severity of the pandemic in the island and the guidelines that are being followed by the island as well.
