The airport which was started to develop by the government in Ha.Hoarafushi has been officially opened today.
The airport was officially opened by the president of the Maldives Mr. Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
In the occasion of opening the airport, the president, along with the Majilis Member of the constituency Mr. Ahmed Saleem, and other senior officials of the government participated as well. More over, a lot of people from the islandĀ did also participate in the ceremony as well.
From the National Airline, public relations and communications Mr. Moosa Waseem stated to “Raaje Tv” that the national flag carrier of the Maldives would start the schedule flights to Hoarafushi on the 26th of November. And starting from December on wards, between Male’ and Hulhumale’, 3 days would include the flights as well.
According to Moosa Waseem, the prices will also be almost the same as with Hanimaadhoo and Kulhudhufushi as well.
The first airport developed by this government spent 198 million on this airport.

Hoarafushi is an island with more than 3000 people and in order to develop the airport, from the Hoarafushi reef, more than 345,500 hectors of land has been dredged.Ā The developed Airport will 1.2 km long on the runway.
Last terms government decided to develop an airport on Maafinolhu, but the current government came in to power and decided to change the plan to Hoarafushi. The agreement was signed on the 31st of March 2020.
