H.Dh Kumundhoo council has stated that, the mangrove present in Kumundhoo are also facing a disease and facing the mysterious sudden death of the trees present.
The council’s president Ameen Mohamed in a tweet stated that the Kumundhoo mangrove is also facing the problems that are being faced by the northern atolls mangroves.
The major population of the trees that are grown in the Kumundhoo mangrove are ” Thakafathi” and “Randoo” trees, according to the council president. But he also added that the disease that are commonly spread in the northern mangroves are not seen from these kind of variations of trees.

Kumundhoo council stating this adds to the list of northern islands who are deeply concerned with the mysterious disease which are making the mangroves die. The list of islands which reported of this are, Ha. Uligam, Ha. Kelaa, H.Dh Neykurendhoo, H.Dh Vaikaradhoo, H.Dh Nolhivaram, Sh. Feydhoo and Sh. Farukolhu.
More over, “Save Maldives” has also added to the above list the following islands, H.Dh Kulhudhufushi, Sh. Goidhoo, N.Kendhikulhudhoo, Gdh. Hondehdhoo, G.Dh Rathafandhoo as well.
The government has taken this issue into consideration and are working to bring a solution by troubleshooting the problem.
