Ha. Ihavandhoo is a knonw for one island which is still facing the scarcity of land in Maldives. One of the promises by the current government is to allow and open new ways to bring a solution to islands with land scarcity.
One such island, Ihavandhoo, the people has been dreaming of the day where they would see their island dredged further with artificially attachments of lands which are dredged.
The 10 new developments that will be started by the government also includes the dredging of Ihavandhoo and the protection of the beaches within the islands. The project has been given to Maldives Transport & Contracting Company (MTCC) and the agreement has been signed as well.
Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure gave this project to MTCC and it is estimated that the whole project would cost 123,960,847.77 Ruffiyya.
The time limit given to finish this whole project is 365 days from the day of starting work. It is also agreed that after the project, Ihavandhoo would have an extra 25 hectors of land attached to the island as well.
After the signing ceremony to dredge the further land to Ihavandhoo and the protection of the beaches of Ihavandhoo, the Majilis Member for the island Mr. Mohamed Shifau thanked the president and the cabinet ministers for making this dream of the islanders come true.
