According to the 2021 budget plans, a high speed ferry system is to be established for the northern islands, says Finance Minister Ibrahim Ameer.
Talking about the next year’s budget in the People’s Majilis, he stated that, in this tropical country where islands are separated with the vast sea, one of the most important thing is to connect the islands with a solid transport system.

Moreover, a lot of people are today, working away from home in other islands due to not having a solid transportation service. This will end once the highspeed ferry system gets established.
Apart from the establishment of the ferry system in the north, according to the budget 2021, the government is also trying to develop Technical and Vocational Education and Training institutes in the north as well. The islands that the institutes that will be developed are H.Dh Kulhudhufushi and R.Alifushi. More over, it will also be widened to Hulhumale’ and Fuvahmulah as well.
