United Nations (UN) has gifted Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)s to the frontline workers in Maldives.
Under the COVID-19 Integrated Response Support, UN gave the PPEs to the Maldives in a small ceremony held in Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The equipment was given to Maldives by the resident representative of UNDP Miss Akiko Fuji. And at the receiving end from the Maldives was Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Abdullah Shahid.
The equipment that was gifted this time to the Maldives includes, 1080 Hazmat Suits, 10,080N-95 masks, 5000 surgical gowns, 6000 surgical masks, 400 goggles, 6000 headcovers, 5000 shoe covers, 2000 face shields and 10,000 examination gloves.
In the ceremony held in the foreign ministry, Minister Shahid stated that in desperate times of disasters and any other substantial crisis hits Maldives, UNDP has always been there to help. He also thanked the UNDP for always helping the Maldives.
The resident representative Miss Akiki Fuji stated that the work that the Maldivian government is doing against COVID-19 and to bring back the economy back deserves appreciation.
Apart from the PPE given by the UN, the 1 million non surgical masks given by Teochew International Federation was also given in this ceremony to the government. These masks will be used to keep the guest house businesses safe and will be used by the people who work in guest houses businesses.
