Kelaa youth forum has initiated a program of gifting plants, along with a plantation program affiliated with the Hoarfushi council to make the islands airport green.
After giving information regarding the plantation program, Hoarafushi council has stated that the Kelaa youth forum as joined the work to plant 100,000 plants in Hoarafushi Airport.
Moreover, this program was held today morning where the Majilis member for the constituency Mr. Ahmed Saleem also participated along with the members of Kelaa youth forum and Hoarafushi Council members.
During the vast project of making the island green, so far three hospitals from the constituency participated, namely, Hoarafushi, Uligam and Thuraakunu. Futhermore, government places of Maarandhoo, MNDF, MTCC and local clubs and people of Hoarafushi has also participated in this event so far.
Last year, the vice president of the Maldives, Mr.Faisal Naseem has also started the cultivation of 500 trees in Hoarafushi. During this program alone, 10,000 plants are to be cultivated according to the islands council.
Last terms government decided to open an airport at Maafinolhu, but this government toppled it and change the project to Hoarafushi. The project has been leased to MTCC and it is estimated that almost 93 million ruffiyaa will be spent by the governments budget for this.
Hoarafushi airport is almost on the verge of finishing, while the airport will consist of a 1.2km runway, 8635 cubic meters of apron side along with a taxiway. Also, more than 8 lakh cubic meters of space has been dredged for the whole project and more. Development of this airport was signed with MTCC on 25th March 2019.
MTCC is trying to finish the airport by 8th of November and to open it on the 11th of November.
