On the occasion of Eid Al’Adha, Kulhudhuffushi City hosted “Hatharudhan 1441”, a kitesurfing event lasting 24 hours.
The event that took place at Kulhudhuffushi airport beach area had over 40 kite surfers taking part in it. “Hatharudhan 1441” was organised by Kulhudhuffushi Kiteboarding.
Minister of Youth, Ahmed Mahloof shared his sentiments via a tweet, praising and encouraging the participants of the event.
Kiteboarding Kulhudhuffushi’s Facebook page also had a live forecast of the event.
“Hatharudhan 1441” that began on the evening of Eid continued through the night as well. A gathering of enthusiastic spectators surrounded the area during the event to watch the compelling performances.
Since many kite surfers were present during the holiday, the main objective was to present a riveting performance for the locals on Eid, stated Kulhudhuffushi Kiteboarding. They also noted that with this event they have proved that water sports can be successfully executed in Kulhudhuffushi and there is scope for those interested.
Kulhudhuffushi is home to many talented surfers. The team has also organised a wind surfing event on 21st July in H.Dh. Naivaidhoo. A total of 40 surfers took part in the event. Out of the participants, 37 were from Kulhudhuffushi City, one from K. Maafushi, one from H.Dh. Hanimadhoo, and a participant from Naivaidhoo spearheaded the event.
Kudos to Kiteboarding Kulhudhuffushi for organising ‘Hatharudhan’, a 24 hour event in which more than 30 kite surfers showcased their talents. Happy to see that many people enjoyed the event.

In addition to this, Kulhudhuffushi’s kite surfers host annual trips to H.Dh. Hanimadhoo, Nolhivaranfaru, Makunudhoo, HA. Kelaa, and Sh. Funadhoo.
This year’s final event of the annual trip had 20 surfers kite surfing from Naivaidhoo to Kulhudhuffushi. The trip took over one and a half hours with the participants being seasoned surfers with years of experience in the field.

Surfers from Kulhudhuffushi has also broken a record by traveling to Sh. Funadhoo from Kulhudhuffushi while kite surfing in an event named “Gamees Vai Dhashah”. The distance of this trips was over 35 miles.
