“Huhbondi”, “aarus” and “Beyndi” are words you might find unfamiliar, but these are various names of the much famed Eid bondi as per different dialects within the island nation.
The story of how the citizens of HD. Makunudhoo prepare Eid bondi following eid celebrations is quite interesting. To express this, Makunudhoo School has collaborated with Wasif Photos to bring this photo story to you.
” The preparation of Eid Bondi has been going on in the island for a long time, we consulted old citizens on how the item was made back in the days and recreated the scenes with the help of youth “

The pictures are portrayed by 10th Grade students of Makunudhoo School and each picture includes a brief description of the image.
This tradition has been going on for so long that citizens of the island find it difficult to state the exact date to which the making of Eid bondi goes back. Since the traditional has it’s roots from the early inhabitants of the island, the young generation is determined to continue the preparation of this exquisitely sweet cuisine as per the traditions of the island.
The tradition of hiding Eid bondi following eid celebrations is a common practice throughout out the atoll, although they are slightly different from how it’s practiced in Makunudhoo.
