Following the ramifications of COVID-19, HA. Atoll council opens a Relief fund to be utilized for arrangements relevant to the ongoing pandemic.
According to HA. Atoll Council, the purpose of this fund is to arrange and provide capital required to carry out COVID-19 related expenditures by the Atoll’s island councils.
The Council has set aside approximately MVR 300,000 for the relief fund.
In the recently held Atoll Council’s 153rd common meeting, it was decided that, grants will be provided to Atoll Emergency Operation Center for COVID-19 and Operation Centers belonging to 14 islands of the atoll.
HA. Atoll Council stated that the financial aid have been transacted to all island councils now.
The 14 islands that will be covered by the Relief fund has a total population exceeding 22,000. This is the first Relief Fund opened by any Atoll council following novel Coronavirus pandemic.
