H.Dh Keylakunu, one of the 11 conserved islands under Environment Protection Act (Law No 4/93), is currently in need of a warden, according to a recent announcement by H.Dh Atoll Council.
The position is open for registered business owners and H.Dh atoll’s island council administrations. Interested candidate can register through H.Dh atoll council’s office from 9th July to 14:00 hrs of 29th July.
Bid opening will commence on 23rd July 2020, at 11 am in H.Dh Atoll Council Conference Hall. The announcement states that bids should be in secured envelopes to vouch for their confidentiality, with the candidate’s name written on the front of each envelope.
Keylakunu spans into 80:23 hectares, housing a wide array of endemic species. The island has been in temporary care of H.Dh atoll council.
According to the gazette announcement, the island will be handed over to a temporary caretaker for 6 months. Further documents attached with the announcement holds information regarding the ownership of the island and states that since the island is temporarily under the scrutiny of the council, if by any convenience government decides to reclaim the island, the warden will be notified accordingly. If government shows no such desire, depending on the work done by the warden, council plans to renew the agreement for another 6 months once the initial duration has been completed.
