The national airline Maldivian has announced plans to start direct flights between the two major cities at the ends of the country, Kulhuduffushi City and Addu City, as the airline gears to resume their now halted domestic flights.

In a news bulletin, the airline announced the induction of the flights in their schedule with two flights between the cities every week. Every Thursday the airline would fly from Kulhudhuffushi City to Addu City and on Saturday vice versa.

The price for a one way fare is set to start from MVR 1,444. The flight would include a 20 minute transit at Velana International Airport. A stop to refuel and the passengers are to wait aboard the plane during the wait.

The airline also recently announced the introduction of scheduled flights to the newly built airport in Maavarulu effective from next month. The airline priced a one way fare to start from MVR 827.

In a passenger notice released by the airline, all passengers were advised to take precautionary measures and to verify documents and other health related permits issued both by the Healht Protection Agency (HPA) and island councils in relation to the pandemic before travelling.

Passengers who are traveling from Male’ to other islands are required to undergo a mandatory home quarantine as per the new guidelines issued by HPA.
