In the daily press conference held at the National Emergency Operations Center this Wednesday, Minister of Tourism Ali Waheed made the statement, stating that the Ministry have issued a directive to stakeholders to prioritize the reinstatement of workers laid off due to the pandemic.

The Minister further reassured that the situation is being keenly monitored and that the ministry is reviewing complaints put through the Economic Ministry’s Job Center which was put in place to collect information of workers whose employments have been affected by the pandemic.

ā€œI don’t believe resorts that mistreated their workers will ever achieve success,” Minister Waheed said elaborating that the country and the industry can only rise from the economic pitfall with the collaborative efforts of employees, employers and the government altogether.
