Higher Education Minister Dr. Ibrahim Hassan has visited Ha. Dhidhdhoo to see the progress of the Junior College to be set up in the island.
Minister is accompanied by Dhidhdhoo MP Abdulla Waheed and officials from Ministry of Higher Education on his trip.
Speaking at a meeting of the Ministry’s team with Dhidhdhoo Council regarding the preparations for the operation of the college, the minister stated that providing higher education and training are one of the main goals of the current government and the government has not stopped spending on education even during the most difficult times in Covid-19 pandemic.
The Minister also expressed his gratitude to the Council and the Member of Parliament from the constituency for their continuous support and assistance to the project. Moreover, he also expressed hope that the institute would provide quality work education and skills to the youth of Dhidhdhoo and other islands of the atoll, and if it is successful, it would be a great boost for the young population and economy of the region.
Furthermore, the Vice President of Dhidhdhoo Council Abdulla Waheed and other members of the Council noted that the Dhidhdhoo Junior College Project is the most desired project of the Council. He expressed satisfaction over the progress and pace of the project and expressed his gratitude to the Ministry for always seeking the council’s suggestions from the beginning of the project.
In addition, team from the ministry held a focus group discussion with local institutions and industrial sectors on the areas to be taught in the junior college.
The major construction work of the Junior College in Dhidhdhoo and all concrete work has been completed.
