The first flight from Emirates has landed in Velana International Airport following reopening of the national border after 3 months. According to MACL the flight carried a total 101 passengers.
Initially, Qatar airways landed in hulhule with 212 passengers, 104 of them reported to be tourists. That would count as the first group of tourists to visit Maldives since the tourism sector reopened after facing an abrupt halt following the outbreak of Covid-19 in the country.
Many airlines arriving in Maldives is scheduled to land next month. That includes a total of 6 airlines, reported to be Hong Kong Airline, Gulf Air, Indigo, Silk Air, Singapore Airlines and Sri Lankan.

The current number of scheduled flights is relatively low as MACL informs airlines have proposed to increase the number of landings, approximately equivalent to three times the current figure with tourism in the Maldives expected to hit peak season soon.
