Bank of Maldives (BML) has further expanded its nationwide ATM network by establishing self-service banking ATM services in the industrial island of K. Thilafushi.

The special ceremony held yesterday to inaugurate the ATM in the industrial hub was attended by the Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Mohamed Saeed, BML’s CEO and Managing Director, Mohamed Shareef, and senior officials from the bank.

Speaking at the ceremony, BML CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef stated that expanding the BML ATM network is a major objective as the bank continues to strengthen its services across the Maldives. He further noted that the establishment of the self-service ATM in Thilafushi demonstrates the bank’s commitment to making banking services more accessible to business communities.

“As we move forward with our service expansion plans for 2026, providing convenient and valuable services to customers across all parts of the Maldives remains a top priority for us,” Shareef said.

With the launch of the ATM service in Thilafushi, BML’s banking network has now expanded significantly across all atolls in the Maldives. This includes 42 branches and 267 ATMs across 20 atolls, as well as self-service banking centers established in all inhabited islands. Additionally, the bank continues to provide state-of-the-art online banking services.

According to BML, there are plans to further expand services this year by establishing additional self-service banking centers, branches, and ATMs. The bank highlighted that this includes the installation of over 70 US Dollar ATMs in various regions of the Maldives.

The commencement of self-service banking ATM services in Thilafushi is a significant step toward providing easy access to banking services for the workers and businesses operating on the island.
