State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has donated MVR 250,000 to the “Dhivehin with Ceylon” telethon, which is being conducted by the Maldives to assist the people of Sri Lanka who suffered significant damage due to the powerful storm “Ditwa.”
This aid was provided by the management and employees of STELCO to help the Sri Lankan people affected by the storm.
The cheque for this donation was handed over by STELCO’s Managing Director, Ahmed Shamah Rasheed. The cheque was received on behalf of PSM (Public Service Media) by its Deputy Director, Yamin Rasheed. This telethon, initiated by the state media, PSM, is an activity carried out to provide assistance to the neighboring country following this major disaster.
The “Dhivehin with Ceylon” telethon was scheduled to run from yesterday morning until 1:00 PM today. So far, the telethon, which is being conducted by PSM in collaboration with 37 media houses, has received over MVR 5.7 million in aid. This amount demonstrates the courage and solidarity of the Maldivian people.
The opportunity to contribute funds to this ongoing effort to help the people of Sri Lanka has been opened. Fund boxes have been placed in various areas of Malé, Hulhumalé, and Villingili, and funds can also be deposited via bank transfer.
