The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has warned that any vessels left anchored within the designated Hulhumalé Phase 3 reclamation area past the given deadline will be removed by the corporation itself.
HDC says the move is necessary to ensure the timely progress of the reclamation project, which is being carried out in accordance with the Hulhumalé Master Plan. Clearance work in the lagoon is currently underway in preparation for reclamation.
The corporation noted that repeated public announcements had been issued regarding the removal of vessels anchored in the designated zone. The most recent notice, issued on November 9, 2025, informed vessel owners that alternative anchorage areas were available in Thilafushi, Gulhifalhu, and Kudagiri.
Despite these notices, HDC said a significant number of vessels remain in the area. As a result, the corporation has reiterated that all vessels anchored within the charted reclamation zone must be removed before 15:30 on November 22, 2025.
HDC further stated that any vessels still within the marked area after the deadline, and obstructing reclamation work, will be removed by the corporation. It added that the corporation will not be liable for any damage incurred during the removal process.
