Kanditheemu, Shaviyani Atoll — The Kanditheemu team clinched the Milauthuru Futsal Tournament 2025 title after a thrilling 6–2 victory over Milandhoo in the final match held last night in Kanditheemu.
The tournament, organized by the Shaviyani Atoll Council, featured teams from across the atoll’s islands and concluded with a packed crowd witnessing an intense and entertaining final.
The first half ended with Milandhoo leading 1–0, following an early goal from Ahmed Shany (jersey #30). However, Kanditheemu mounted a strong comeback after halftime, scoring two quick goals within the first two minutes — courtesy of Adam Thoufeeq (#15) and Raul Niyaz (#9).
The momentum remained with Kanditheemu as Ali Mizyan (#4) and Mohamed Ishaan (#96) extended their lead. In the closing minutes, Milandhoo’s Mohamed Nizah Ali (#17) pulled one back for his team, but Kanditheemu sealed the victory as Raul Niyaz added two more goals to complete a remarkable hat-trick.
Raul Niyaz was named Best Player of the Final for his outstanding performance.
The colorful closing ceremony was graced by Kulhudhuffushi City Mayor Mohamed Athif, along with Sh. Atoll Council President Mohamed Shiyam, Kanditheemu Council President Ahmed Ahsan, and several other council presidents and vice presidents from the atoll.
This marks Kanditheemu’s second consecutive championship, having also lifted the Milauthuru Futsal Tournament trophy in 2023.
