Kulhudhuffushi City Council has decided to issue grants to create young entrepreneurs and expand and develop small businesses.

Speaking at the meeting with the public, Mayor Athif stated that issuing “mini-business grants” would be one of the important work to be done this year by council.

Moreover, Athif stated that the grant will be provided for those working at home or to self-employed persons without any interest. The mayor, however, stated the amount of grants to be provided is yet to be decided.

Furthermore, Deputy Mayor Ali Ahmed stated that the scheme aims to improve the economic condition of the city and make the youth more self-sufficient.

A major part of the process of preparing the city’s business plan and registering the local authority company has been completed and the company will create opportunities for the city council to increase its revenue, according to the mayor. Mayor Athif also pointed out that it will also create more employment opportunities.
