A large number of people from Ha. Utheemu has travelled to Ha. Dhidhdhoo to buy supplies for the upcoming month of Ramadan.
On Saturday, 160 People from Utheemu travelled to Dhidhdhoo on the Dhoani ferry to buy groceries for the month of Ramadan.
Speaking on the occasion, President of Utheemu Council Abdulla Rasheed stated that many people from Utheemu have always gone to Dhidhdhoo to buy groceries and other items needed for daily life, but last Saturday was a day with most number of people travelled to Dhidhdhoo so far.
It is approximately a 10 minutes ride from Utheemu to Dhidhdhoo by Dhoani Ferry. Dhidhdhoo is the capital city of Haa Alifu Atoll and is one of the island that has the highest availability of goods in the atoll. The atoll hospital is also located in Dhidhdhoo. Many people from Utheemu travel to Dhidhdhoo all the time of the year for doctor consultation.
In addition, people from Utheemu make business trips to Dhidhdhoo all the time of the year. Utheemu is an important partner in Dhidhdhoo’s economy. The people of the two islands share a close bond.
