A special Medical camp for migrant workers in HDh. Hanimaadhoo has been held in the island.
The medical camp was conducted from January 26 to 27. In the camp, medical test of 505 migrant labourers working in the island were conducted.
Currently, a large number of migrant workers are working in the Hanimaadhoo. India’s JMC Company that working on the expansion of Hanimaadhoo International Airport, currently employs 680 foreign employees. A total of 208 migrant workers are working in various construction groups and in other fields in the island.
Hanimaadhoo Health Center stated that they requested the Health Protection Agency (HPA) to conduct such a camp in the island since there are Filariasis cases in Kulhudhuffushi City and several migrant workers are receiving treatment on a daily basis from Health Center. In this regard, the camp was jointly organized by Mission for migrant workers Maldives (MMWM), Society for Health Education (SHE), Hanimadhoo Health Center and Council under the support of HPA’s SAARC Development Fund.
The camp provided various information on health issues. In addition to Blood Pressure checking and diabetes testing, the camp provided free medicines to those who were diagnosed with a variety of illnesses. Moreover, vaccines were administered to those who have not completed any dose of Rubella, Covid, and Measles vaccine.
