Sonee Sports Golden Futsal Challenge 2024 kicked off at the Rehendhi Futsal Grounds in Hulhumale’ last night, with Maarandhoo, Ihavandhoo, Hoarafushi, Utheemu and Vashafaru winning the first matches of the Haa Alifu Atoll group stage.
A total of 12 islands from Haa Alifu Atoll are competing in the tournament. Therefore, the atoll round is being held in four groups. The top eight teams from four groups will advance to the quarter-finals and champions of atoll round will be decided after the final match played between winners of two semifinal matches.
Maarandhoo beat Filladhoo 3-0 in the first match of the tournament. Mohammad Adhil, Mohamed Tahseen and Ahmed Mohamed scored the goals for Maarandhoo.
Ihavandhoo beat Muraidhoo 5-1 in the first match of the tournament. Ihavandhoo’s Ibrahim Hamid scored two goals in the match. Hassan Shamil and Ahmed Sajid were the other goal scorers for the team.
Hoarafushi defeated Thakandhoo by a huge margin. Hoarafushi won the match 6-2. Yameen from the Hoarafushi team scored a hat-trick. Hassan Irshad, Ahmed Zidhan and Abdulla scored the remaining goals. Jaadhulla Ahmed and Mohamed Hassan were the goal scorers for Thakandhoo.
Utheemu won the match against Thuraakunu 4-1. Mohamed Rifau, Mohammad Nabeel and Thaaha Mohamed scored the goals for Utheemu. Ahmed scored the only goal for Thuraakunu.
Vashafaru won the match against Dhidhdhoo 4-1. Sajid Raseed scored a hat-trick in the match and Ali Yazdan scored the winning goal for the team. Faaig Ahmed was the only goal scorer for Dhidhdhoo.
The match between Baarah and Kelaa ended in a 1-1 draw. Ahmed Faizan scored the goal for. Baarah and Abdulla Ihsan scored the goal for Kelaa.
Tonight five matches of the Haa Dhaalu Atoll group stage will be played.
