VIA new cargo terminal inaugurated

The new cargo terminal developed at Velana International Airport (VIA) has been inaugurated officially.

The new cargo terminal at the Velana International Airport was officially inaugurated this evening by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

Compared to the previous cargo terminal, the newly developed cargo terminal has the capacity to service three times more cargo. With the new cargo terminal capacity will increase to a total of 120,000 tonnes of cargo service per year from 50,000 tonnes of cargo service per year.

Moreover, the new cargo terminal equips environmentally friendly vehicles with more updated amenities. A three-story office building with 55 office spaces for airlines and brokers is also located at the new cargo terminal. 

The President recently announced a development megaproject to expand Velana International Airport to accommodate 25,000 tourists annually.
