A massive cleaning event has been held at HDh. Kulhudhuffushi City to clean mosquito breeding sites.
Kulhudhuffushi City Council stated that the event was organized by the Kulhudhuffushi Filaria Task Force to control filariasis cases in the city.
As part of the event, mosquito breeding sites in the city was cleaned and Civil Society Organization (CSO) participated in the event.
Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital (KRH) expressed its gratitude to the participants of the event and appreciated the support of the City Council, Maldivian Red Crescent Kulhudhuffushi Branch, Maglas Club and other organizations participated in the event and to the general public.
A total of 17 foreigners tested positive for filariasis in Kulhudhuffushi City, in a foreigners’ screening program, which was held from December 1 to 2 to coincide with World AIDS Day.
Therefore, Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital (KRH) started further screening of more expatriates and a special task force was formed in the city. So far, 25 foreigners have tested positive for the virus in the city.
