The closing ceremony of STO Makita Junior Athletics Championships held at Kulhudhuffushi City has been held on Friday Night.
Junior Athletics Championships was held from October 15 to 20. The closing ceremony began with Kulhudhuffushi City’s famous cultural item ‘Hihchah Vadai’gathun’.
The closing ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Kulhudhuffushi City Mohamed Athif, President of Shaviyani Atoll Council Mohamed Shiyam, Athletics Association Honorary President Maizan Ali Manik, Vice President Ahmed Azeel and senior officials of the association were present on the occasion. Moreover, Kulhudhuffushi North constituency Parliament Member Yaasir Abdul Latheef was the chief guest of the ceremony. And members of Kulhudhuffushi City Council, athletes from participating schools and parents also participated in the ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Athletics Association Vice President Ahmed Azeel expressed his appreciation for the preparations made by Kulhudhuffushi City. He also promised to host a national-level athletics competition in the city in the near future.
In this year’s Junior Championship a total of 1,124 athletes competed from 35 schools of the country. They are 505 female athletes and 619 male athletes.
In addition, a total of 37 athletes set new records at this year’s Junior Championship.
