Team Reef Raiders has won Ooredoo Masrace 2023 – Fuvahmulah City held on August 25, 2023.
A total of 83 teams and 11 teams from Fuvahmulah City participated in this year’s Ooredoo Masrace, making it the biggest fishing competition in the Maldives.
According to Ooredoo Maldives in relation to the company’s 18th anniversary, this year’s Masrace was bigger and more exciting. The event took place in four different cities across the Maldives, including Male’ City, Kulhudhuffushi City, Fuvahmulah City, and Addu City, throughout the month of August 2023.
The championship title of Ooredoo Masrace 2023 – Fuvahmulah City was claimed by the remarkable, Team Reef Raiders with a result of 1326.45 points, taking home MVR25,000 as Cash Prize. The competition was intense, with Team Nagai Haali securing the runner-up position with a commendable total of 335 points. Team Meyre Bol secured the second runner-up position with a total of 175.8 points, further highlighting the fierce competition among the teams.
Moreover, the Best Fisherman title and Fisherman with the Heaviest Catch went to Abdulla Ibrahim from Team Reef Raiders, who showcased exceptional skills by landing a total of 17 catches, out of which the Heaviest Catch is an 8.05kg Ruby. Safa Adnan from Team Meyre Bol was recognized as the Best Fisherwoman.
Participating teams competed against other teams within the City for the grand prize of MVR25,000 cash prize. Prizes worth a total of MVR 160,000 were awarded throughout the competition, where winners from each city received cash prizes as below:
- 1st Place Team: MVR 25,000
- 2nd Place Team: MVR 10,000
- 3rd Place Team: MVR 5,000
- Best Fisherman: MVR 1000
- Best Fisherwoman: MVR 1000
