The Nellaidhoo vessel that sank to HDh. Kurinbi Harbour yesterday has been recovered.

Speaking regarding the incident, Vice President of Kurinbi Council Ahmed Siyah stated that a resident from the island reported the incident to the council yesterday morning and from the moment the council received the report, they started the work to recover the vessel with the assistance of locals present at the incident site.

Moreover, the council requested further assistance from the general public and with their assistance the vessel was recovered within about 30 minutes. Also, Siyah highlighted that they received assistance from an MTCC excavator which is currently on the island for a project.

Furthermore, Siyah noted that the reason the vessel sank might be since the vessel was not used for a long time. In addition, he stated that no one was injured in the incident, however some of the materials were damaged and the engine might also be damaged as it was under water.
