The number of students studying in Kulhudhuffushi City Schools has reached 3,000 as the new academic session begins.
As per the statistics the figure stood at 2954 last year. With the number of students increasing year after year, the biggest challenge is the issue of space constrains in the schools.
Even in 2023/24 Academic year, the maximum number of students are studying at Afeefuddin School, which provides education to students from foundation grades to grade 10. A total of 1,087 students are enrolled to Afeefuddin School this year. Moreover, this year also the school which has the highest population among schools in the atolls, will be running in two sessions. A total of 128 new students have enrolled to the school this year.
Furthermore, a total of 1,046 students are enrolled in the Haa Dhaalu Atoll Education Center (AEC), which provides education to students from foundation grades to grade 10. A total of 180 new students have enrolled to the school this year.
A total of 689 students are currently enrolled in Jalaluddin School which provides education to students from grade 01 to grade 10. However, the number will go up once A’level students are enrolled. And a total of 35 new students have enrolled to the school this year for grade 01.
In addition, around 180 students will study at Smart Valley School, a private play school in Kulhudhuffushi this year. And a total of 244 teachers will work in Kulhudhuffushi Schools this year.
