An Agriculture training program is ongoing at Sh. Lhaimagu.
It is a joint initiative of the Lhaimagu Council, Shaviyani Atoll Council, Women’s Development Committee (WDC) and Agronet.
Speaking regarding the training program, Assistant Council Executive Ahmed Shinan said that the program is ongoing from July 22 to 27 and no fee will be charged from the participants. With a total of 31 participants, the program will teach all aspects related to agriculture, including the food needed for the plant, medicines to be used, diseases related to the plants and how to prevent them.
Moreover, he stated that under the guidance of an expert in the Fisheries Ministry, the program will include practical and theory sessions. Practical sessions of the program will be held during the day and theory sessions will be held at night.
Furthermore, President of Lhaimagu WDC Aiminath Afraha stated that WDC also had interest in conducting such a training in the Island and they are very happy as they got the opportunity.
She also said that people were selected for the program on the basis of preference to the first forms received from the applicants when the atoll council opened for applications.
