Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has stated that the work to connect Sh. Komandoo and Mathi-Komandoo under Sh. Komandoo Shore Protection Rectification and Mathi-Komandoo Connectivity Project will begin next month.

MTCC also updated on ongoing works stating that they has already begun preparations to reclaim the land to be reclaimed in Mathi-Komandoo and bund wall has already been installed at the excavation site and MTCC’s dredging vessel Jarraafu will be taken to the island to begin reclamation by the end of this month.

Under the project, ratification of 1690 meter of shore protection rectification will be carried out, reclamation of 16.7 hectares of land in Mathi Komandoo, constructing a 1520 meter rock boulder revetment, 353 meter groynes and a 112 meter geobag revetment in the reclaimed area. In addition, construction of a 200 meter long link to connect the reclaimed area to Komandoo and Mathi Komandoo.

The project was awarded to MTCC for MVR 250 million to be completed within 730 days.
