The concept drawing of HDh. Makunudhoo Airport has been shared with the Makunudhoo Council.
Makunudhoo Council President Auzam Adam stated that the concept drawing of the airport was sent to the Council by the Ministry of Housing on last Thursday. And Auzam noted that council has passed the information to the citizens via an announcement.
Moreover, he stated that Ministry had not directly asked council to get the opinion of citizens regarding the concept drawing, but had asked council to share it with the citizens of the island and to hold a meeting with the citizens. Hence, council will interact with the citizens and explain the concept drawing of the airport, Auzam added.
Makunudhoo has a population of about 1,800 people. The airport is planned to be developed in Makunudhoo by reclaiming land from the southern side of the island. The council believes that with the airport island’s economic situation will improved gradually.
It is the government’s commitment to develop an airport as close as possible to 20 or 30 minutes ride away from every inhabited island.
