Ha. Atoll Council provided Financial Assistance to 7 Islands of the Atoll

Haa Alifu Atoll Council has signed an agreement to provide financial assistance to seven islands in the atoll.

According to the atoll council, MVR 100,000 will be released to each island as financial assistance. The seven islands that signed the agreement to receive financial assistance today are Thuraakunu, Ihavandhoo, Vashafaru, Dhidhdhoo, Maarandhoo, Utheemu and Baarah.

As per atoll council, financial assistance is provided in accordance with the Decentralization Act of the Maldives, and these seven island submitted the proposals when they opened the opportunity at the end of last year. The opportunity was open for Island Councils, Women’s Development Committees (WDC) in atolls, Government institutions in the atoll, and to registered Club organizations in the atolls.

In addition, atoll council stated that in the second round, applications for financial assistance will be opened to remaining islands of the atoll in 2023.
