Ministry of Tourism has opened bidding for developing Tourist Resorts in 9 atolls, including 2 atolls from Thiladhunmathi.
As per the announcement by the Ministry, eligible investors from local or foreign can submit their interest to develop a Tourist Resort in the below mentioned uninhabited islands or plot of lagoons on the list below.
Moreover, the ministry noted that the information session regarding the bidding will be held virtually via ZOOM at 1000 hrs on February 6, 2023 and March 5, 2023. And proposal can be submitted as follows:
Furthermore, interested parties are requested to send an email requesting to join the information session along with the attendees’ name and email address to [email protected] before 1200 hrs on February 5, 2023 and March 2, 2023 respectively.
The application form to acquire the Bid Document can be obtained from the Ministry’s website (www.tourism.gov.mv). The Bid Document will be available to purchase from January 23, 2023 to March 21, 2023, from 0900 hrs to 1300 hrs, except for government holidays from the Ministry of Tourism (Velaanage 5th Floor) reception. Price of the bidding documents will be USD 2,250 for locals and USD 3,250 for foreign entities.
In addition, bidders will have to submit USD 50,000 as bid security for the project and the period of bid security will be 150 days from the date of opening of the bid. And Lease Acquisition Cost should be paid on or before 60 (sixty) days from date of the letter of award.
Also, 36 months will be given for the construction from the date of signing the lease agreement. Islands eligible for reclamation may be granted an additional period of up to 18 months based on their proposed development concept.
