Club Civic and Vaikaradhoo (VK) has secured last slots in the semifinals of Futsal Tournament of ‘B14 Sports Festival 2022’ organized by HDh. Neykurendhoo Council.
The Sports Festival began on December 23 and consists of a Futsal and Handball Tournament.
Civic reached the semifinal after winning their last match of the group stage against Club Senon 2-1. VK reached the semifinal by winning their last group stage match against Taj SC 2-0. Semifinal matches will be played tonight.
Moreover, Final match of the Handball Tournament under the Festival between Makunudhoo and NHC will be played today at 1615 hrs.
A total of seven teams are competing in the Futsal Tournament that will be part of the festival. In addition to the six teams from Neykurendhoo, there is one team from Vaikaradhoo. The Futsal tournament teams are divided into two groups and two teams with the highest points from each group will advance to the semi-finals and winners of the semi-final will advance to the final of the tournament.
Group A consists of defending champions Club Senon, runners-up Club Civic, tournament’s most successful team Mazins FC and Harmanas FC. Group B consists of Vaikaradhoo, DC Fraternity, and Taj SC.
A total of four teams are competing in the handball tournament of the festival. Out of four teams three teams are from Neykurendhoo; they are Kasab, NHC, and Falcons. And a team from Makunudhoo will compete in the Handball Tournament. The handball tournament will be played in such a way that each team meets each team and the two teams with highest points will reach the final.
